Things are buzzing!

Last week we enjoyed our last week of beautiful sunny and warm days. Fall is upon us, and it was time to harvest our honey. Our good friend, Micah Hammond, helps us with our hives and keeps a great eye on how things are going, and lets us know when it is time to jump in to the hives. It always seems a bit daunting to take the hives apart, and decide which frames stay for the bees to feed on over the winter, and which ones we get to take to sweeten our tea over the winter! What Makes It All Worth It

We recently received a call from a customer on the west side of the state, wanting to order 2 jars of our Lavender Shea Butter. She had recently started radiation treatments for breast cancer, and had found that her skin was "turning into lizard skin" she said. On a trip through our area, she had stopped at Thorp Fruit and Antique Mall, and picked up a jar, tucked it onto a shelf and forgot about it. Fall Is In The Air

This week we are doing the chores that are the beginning of "putting things to bed" for the year. It's always a little bittersweet to me at this time of year. We are glad for the pace to slow down a bit with outside work, like irrigating, (Bill is really ready to see this one go for the year), harvesting and 4H. However, we are entering into canning, drying and preparing for the holiday season. We are giving all of the lavender a heavy shear job, to prepare for winter snow, and ultimately for new spring growth, and beautiful summer...
