Fall shearing for beautiful purple blooms next summer
Posted by Lynette Miller on
Fall Field Fall is upon us, here in Central Washington. The colors are amazing, and the leaves are piling up, waiting to be raked and put on gardens all over the valley. The lavender plants also need tending before winter. We shear them back to what might seem quite short, but it really does help them be ready for spring. Shearing helps keep your plants from getting so spread out, and helps them stay in a more rounded form. Admittedly, there is a lot of science and maybe more information than you are looking for, but I found it helpful and informative. The study that I found the most interesting was the effect that lavender oil had on MRSA establishing itself on our skin. I know someone who struggles with this, and am anxious to share the information with them. Other topics that are addressed are: Athlete's Foot, Ringworm, Burns, Bee...
